The Power of a Professional Image

The word professional hold a magnitude of meaning to me, while making it visible is the basis of reality, the word profession comes out of this word, which mean; one’s vocation, line of work, occupation, job, career and or business. Therefore whatever your profession, you should be professional, no matter what arena you find yourself in, a professional image is what you should portray, bring forth and practice. Professionalism is the main aspect for me in determining with whom, I build long-term alliances and business relationships. The following factors are my bottom line in knowing if one depicts a professional image;

1.representation
2.representation
3.And representation.

If you want to be taken seriously in your profession or line of work, you should be presenting a professional image in every aspect. It is imperative to display a demeanor which reflects what you expect. For example, At times I have to book travel trips, through a particular travel agency and at the conclusion of finalizing the trip’s itinerary, the agent is required to get a rating from me (the-caller); regarding her handling of my phone request. The ratings are 1 to 10, one (1) being poor and ten (10) being the greatest. While I’ve always given these travel agents great ratings, one day this particular agent decided she was going to rudely yawn in my ear throughout the phone call, not even expressing a simple “excuse me” the entire time., well you know how I rated her and she had the audacity to be shocked upon conclusion of the phone call, unprofessional! I also refuse to frequent hair salons that reek of no organization, rap music blasting throughout, roaches secretly crawling in a den of bitter women, with the owner/beautician leading a full fledged conversation about her babies’ daddy and the latest gossip; this is the ultimate tacky and unprofessional!

It’s not about what you do; it’s about how you do it. It’s not about other people or the rest; it’s about you being your best.  I know this man in the city in of Passaic, NJ; he’s a businessman who hauls rubbish and move furniture or trash for a fee. He’s an entrepreneur and proprietor who owns his own truck and make a decent living. His truck is old and sometimes he’s filthy due to his line of work but guess what? He is so very professional; it will blow your mind! He’s prompt, courteous, reliable, firm, mild mannered, with a great demeanor. And he’s the first person I’ll call, when I need something transported. Why? Because his image is displayed in how he operate.

A professional image represents your style and your approach, if you want to be taken seriously, it is imperative to present yourself accordingly; this is important to me in the everyday operation of my business with regard to email, written correspondence, all of my events, right down to each and every book sale. Presentation to me is everything; therefore I take pride in every aspect of my business submissions and endeavors. I'm confident with my style and at my craft, in addition to my God given gift in my field of expertise. As a writer, I can easily get lost in concentrating and organizing my thoughts. As a business professional, I allow my creative abilities to flow in order to produce originality. As an event planner, my organizational skills work overtime in order to complete a memorable and productive outcome. I take pride in integrity; therefore I rest well at the end of each day and at the conclusion of every venture. I believe in building strong alliances with a proven reputation of honesty and trust along with a candid demeanor; these qualities and traits are very well represented by me as a leader, which displays my power in maintaining my professional image.
